My Copy of Never Eat Alone
In my career there are a handful of books I refer to regularly. The one book that stays consistently at the top of my recommended reading list is Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi.
My wife bought a first-edition copy of the book for me thinking that it might be useful and that I already tried to “never eat alone” as I was building my business connections in Seattle. One of my sales mentors once said, “Mike, you’re the best-connected guy I know in Seattle and I’m a native!”
I’m surely not the “best connected” guy in Seattle (there are others that are far better connected than me), but the principles in Never Eat Alone are deeper than just quantity of connections There’s also quite a lot to be said about the quality of those interpersonal relationships. I’ve found that these deeper, more significant relationships bring joy to my life. Since it’s publication in 2005 I’ve been sharing the book with anyone who asks me how to become better networked, how they might grow in their careers, how they can broaden their relationships and their opportunities. I’ve also met the author on one occasion and found him to be as genuine as I had hoped and I share a connection with him to this day.
I was very surprised and thrilled to be asked by Keith’s firm, FerrazziGreenlight, to be officially affiliated with the firm and to represent their products and services including the Relationship Masters Academy.
And now, with the intent of full disclosure, I announce that I am officially affiliated with Never Eat Alone. Rest assured; however, that I would continue to enthusiastically endorse the book whether I was affiliated or not. Practicing its precepts have been a huge help to me in my career and beyond.
